This pretty, Grade II listed thatched cottage is nestled amongst beautiful countryside, within 3.5 acres of grounds. Perfect for a cosy retreat for couples or small families.

Just a stone’s throw from Calbourne Water Mill, this cottage is ideally located for exploring the island countryside. Footpaths start close to the cottage, leading to Newbridge, Calbourne, and to the downs above Brighstone. Here they link with the renowned Tennyson trail to Freshwater Bay. The quiet beaches and small coves of Brighstone, Brook and Freshwater are all within an easy drive away, while the market town of Newport and Carisbrooke Castle are also nearby.

Step into the charming lodge and into the characterful hexagonal shaped kitchen, which has been equipped with everything you could need. Cook up a storm on the electric cooker and hob, make use of the microwave and fridge/freezer, and set the slimline dishwasher to avoid those washing up arguments. There’s also a washing machine. Relax in the spacious open-plan lounge, which has comfortable seating around a TV/DVD. There’s also an attractive dining area beside a window, which looks out onto the stunning grounds. The accommodation is all on one level, so you’ll also find the bedrooms on the ground floor. The double has fitted wardrobes and windows overlooking the garden, and there’s also a twin bedroom. There’s a large bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC.

Immediately beside the cottage is a lovely enclosed south-facing courtyard with garden furniture. It’s the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee, or perhaps dine al fresco. Nearby there is a summer house for visitor use, while the large grounds include lawns, woodland, an attractive pond and pretty stream. Parking is available on the drive for two to three cars.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

The booking process, including ferry reservations was painless and efficient. Sweetwater Lodge is an idyllic holiday retreat. Without doubt the best equipped self catering accommodation we have used, topped by a very good welcome pack of flowers, cakes, and essentials for first arrival. Hope to return one day.

Our first holiday for 6 years, and the first with our dog. We couldn't have chosen better, Island Cottage Holidays sorted everything. The cottage is in a beautiful setting and very peaceful, just what we needed. We will definitely use this company again and hopefully go back to Sweetwater Cottage.
