Meandering through Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, the River Thames has carved out a truly beautiful valley, with the lush green hills of the Chilterns creating a wonderful backdrop. Starting high up in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, the river makes its way through miles of glorious English countryside to the Thames Barrier past London, before exiting into the North Sea.
There is much history to be taken in throughout the Thames Valley, especially in the 20-mile stretch between Hurley and Runnymede. Among the monuments which can be seen are the Magna Carta Memorial, marking the 'official' site of the signing of the Magna Carta, the JFK Memorial and the Air Forces Memorial.
Perhaps one of the best reasons to stay in our Thames Valley cottages is to visit the many pretty towns and villages found along the course of the river, including Henley-on-Thames, Streatley-on-Thames and Goring-on-Thames. Many excellent days out can also be found in Berkshire in particular, home to the Ascot Racecourse, Legoland Windsor, Windsor Castle, and Eton Chapel for starters. Much of the Thames Valley is also within easy reach of London, meaning that a day trip to the capital from our Thames Valley holiday cottages is definitely possible.
If you're planning to have your next holiday or short break in the Thames Valley, we have a superb choice of self-catering holiday accommodation in the region. Choose from cosy romantic cottages perfect for couples, luxury cottages with hot tubs or swimming pools, dog-friendly properties suitable for four-legged friends, cottages for all the family and much, much more.
