This characterful converted Grade 2 listed barn is set in a quiet valley on the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park, with market towns, outdoor thrills and beautiful landscapes all within easy reach.

Tucked away in the hamlet of Abercegir, this charming cottage is just a short distance from the unrivalled scenery of Snowdonia National Park and the many outdoor activities it offers, including walking, mountaineering and mountain biking. The town of Machynlleth can be found five miles away, and has a choice of places to eat and drink, as well as a weekly street market and a treasure trove of independent shops. Fifteen miles away is the harbour town of Aberdovey, surrounded by some of the finest beaches in Wales, looking out onto Cardigan Bay. You can also take in the local scenery on a ride onboard a narrow-gauge railway – try the Talyllyn or the Corris railways.

Upon entering the property, you will be greeted by the cosy lounge, complete with original wooden beams. Here you can curl up on the seating and warm up next to the lovely wood burner (initial supply of logs provided). An additional space for relaxing can be found in the mezzanine area, where there is more comfortable seating, a desk and a TV/DVD. TV signal is not available, however, there is a wide selection of DVDs, books and games to choose from providing plenty of entertainment. The heart of the property is the kitchen/diner, complete with oak fixtures and everything you need to fully enjoy your stay including a double oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer, as well as an iPod dock so you can listen to music while you cook. The dining area, found in the adjoining conservatory area, seats six and there is also a breakfast bar with seating for two, ideal for more casual occasions. Beneath the mezzanine, you’ll find the first of the property’s three bedrooms: a double. A few more steps down lead to the master bedroom and the third bedroom, both with king-size beds. The master bedroom also enjoys an en-suite wet room with WC. Between the two other bedrooms you will find the family bathroom featuring a bath with shower over and WC – please be careful of the sloped ceiling, the room has low head height.

The conservatory leads out to the beautiful garden, beginning with a patio area complete with deckchairs. Steps from the patio take you down to the rest of the garden, with a lawn and decked area, which features a large table and chairs and BBQ perfect for dining al fresco. There is also a gentle stream which marks the border of the bottom of the garden. Ample parking for several cars is available around the property.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Beautifully converted, slightly quirky barn that is very comfortable and well appointed. Everywhere was immaculately clean on arrival. Pretty enclosed large garden with a wilder area at the bottom that leads to a little stream. Great for children and dogs. The perfect getaway - such a wonderful house, everything thoroughly well thought through. Fully equipped with everything needed for a relaxing, comfortable holiday in a superb location in the countryside but close by to Machynlleth. We will be back!

This is a lovely cottage in a perfectly tranquil location. The owners have clearly thought of everything you could possibly need. The lack of phone signal was a refreshing break.

We loved our week at Spring Barn over New Year. The barn was warm and cosy. It was a pleasure to cook in the spacious and well equipped kitchen. The lack of TV signal was rather enjoyable, especially with good wifi and a great selection of DVDs and books available. It was an ideal base for exploring the area. A book of local circular routes in the Read morehouse helped us plan walks by the sea and also into the hills. We'd love to come back in the summer and make the most of the garden. Hide

We stayed at the Spring Barn for a family Christmas. It was lovely and spacious enough we never felt cramped (we were five adults, a toddler and a baby).
