CHARACTER PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE FOOT OF THE SUGAR AND LOAF MOUNTAIN, SLEEPS 12 ADULTS + 6 CHILDREN

Originally dating back from the 1740’s, it is a great family holiday home, large and comfortable, there is plenty of room at the property for two or three families to enjoy a holiday together, or just to spread out and make yourself really comfortable.

Abergavenny is just 15 minutes by car with its castle, shops and restaurants. Crickhowell with shops and pubs is a 7 minute drive, you can also be in Brecon within 30 minutes or Hay-on-Wye with its fabulous book shops and famous Hay Festival within 40 minutes. Nearby attractions include walking The Sugar Loaf Mountain it is a great walk and will reward you with fantastic views of the area. The Black Mountains, part of the Brecon Beacons National Park are all around you, so you can pick your next peak from the top. Fishing permits can be obtained with help from the owners and there is fishing on the nearby river or the larger River Usk just a couple of miles away. Play facilities: trampoline, playhouse and tree house

The accommodation offers SEVEN bedrooms: 1 super-king-size with en-suite bath with shower and WC, 1 double, 1 double with additional single bed, 1 twin, 1 twin (suitable for children only) accessed via a double bedroom and 1 single with a day bed. On the second floor, 1 twin with 2 additional single beds (suitable for children only) Bathroom: with bath and WC. Separate WC, on the ground floor. Lounge/snug: with SkyTV, DVD and a selection of toys and games. Drawing room: with open fire and piano. Dining room: with football table. Kitchen/diner: with electric oven and hob, Aga, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and TV. Utility room: with washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Outside: garden and terrace with outdoor furniture, BBQ and an acre of woodland to explore. Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen, electric, central heating and Wi-Fi included. Regret no smoking. 2 dogs welcome. Additional info: Spa treatments can be arranged at the house. Location: pub within walking distance. Arrival: 4pm.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

SLEEPS 12 adults + max 6 children: Master bedroom:  An en-suite master bedroom with super king-size bed + 2 singles in a separate annexe leading off the main bedroom (ideal for 2 children).  Second double bedroom overlooking the garden, with super-king size bed and 1 day bed.   Double room three: 1 small double sleigh bed.  2 twin bedrooms - each with 2 good sized single beds.   Attic bedrooms: 1 standard double bed + small child's bed (young child only).  Small second bedroom with 1 single bed.  Additional 2 single beds on the landing in the attic.   

BATHING: En-suite in master bedroom with shower, bath, loo and basin. First floor family bathroom with bath, loo and basin. Additional first floor loo with basin.

KITCHEN: Oil fired AGA, electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, coffee maker and television. Farmhouse breakfast table and seats for six, perfect for cosy breakfasts with early risers! The adjoining boot room has a washing machine a tumble dryer and a freezer.

DINING: Large dining room with pretty views onto the garden, huge dining room table with lots of seating for fabulous lunches or suppers with friends and family. Two sofas and an indoor football table can also be found in the dining room too!

RELAXING: Cosy snug with large plasma television with sky and DVD player. Toys and games for a wide range of ages can be found, so plenty to do on rainy days! Lovely grown up drawing room with piano, open fire and lots of comfortable chairs and sofas.

OUTSIDE: An acre of woodland to explore, plus a well maintained, pretty garden with beautiful ancient trees. A terrace with barbeque, outside dining furniture and romantic a wooden swing seat for quiet moments!

PLAYTIME: Inside football table, books and toys. Outside there is a basic trampoline, wooden playhouse, tree house with fantastic views and slide. All at own risk.

TECHNOLOGY: Most mobile networks work in the house. There is wireless broadband access and sky television.

SECURITY BOND: There is a damage bond of £300, managed directly with the owner, for this property, refunded on safe departure.

STYLE & FINISH: We love the Old Vic, for what is it, a really large, laid back family house, which is brilliant value for lots of friends and family getting together. It's utterly charming, however not one of our luxury self catering stays which is reflected in the price. Bedding included, please bring your own towels.

Great location for a weekend away with friends - lots of space for everyone, really charming location and lovely communal spaces for eating together and hanging out. Good nearby walks, pub, the works!

It is perfect for a large extended family of all ages and brilliant for children. We could have a lazy breakfast inside whilst watching the children playing in the Wendy house and swinging on the rope swing at the other end of the garden. The lounge was so cosy and relaxing for chatting late into the night. Found the books fascinating.

This is a wonderful house and garden. We all felt at home because it is clearly cherished by the family who own it. The location is brilliant: down the road is the river where I saw dippers, grey wagtails and a heron and up the road is the challenge of Sugar Loaf mountain. Beautiful property, great beds, lovely views and huge rambling garden to explore. We were at this house for a ladies weekend but I can also imagine it would be great for a 2-3 families to share. We would considering returning.
