Set in an acre of private land. The barn which is named after the lovely farmer who lived and worked the surrounding land, has been transformed from a once modest shepherd’s cottage. Retaining all the charm and features of an old property, warming oak beams, dry stone walls.

The Brecon and Monmouth Canal is very close at hand, with Goytre Whalf making a great morning stroll. Well located to explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in one direction and the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons in the other. Located just 20 minutes from the Severn Bridge, with easy access to Cardiff, Monmouth, Usk and Abergavenny, perfect for the country shows and food festivals throughout the year. In the Welsh borderlands you will find Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle, The Roman Fortress in Caerleon are all within easy reach The Big Pit is also well worth a trip with children, (free of charge), a chance to head underground in a real mine. Leisure facilities: private hot tub.

This open-plan accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: 1 king-size with views and 1 twin. Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC. Separate WC on the ground floor. Lounge area: with woodburner (first basket of logs included), TV and DVD. Kitchen/diner: with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Utility room: with washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside: enclosed garden with duck pond (safely fenced) and a pretty terrace set within the ruins of the old barn with table and chairs and a hot tub. Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating and Wi-Fi included. Regret no smoking. 2 dogs welcome. Additional info: secure storage area for bikes. Location: pubs within walking distance. Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

SLEEPS 2 - 4: A king-size bedroom with crisp bedlinen, squishy duvet, lovely eiderdown and gorgeous views over the countryside. Plus, a twin bedroom with cosy woolly Bronte throws and cushions, alongside crisp bedlinen and duvets.

RELAXING: Stylish open plan living room with cream wood burning stove, a generous basket of logs, plus firelighters and kindling to get it going. Linen sofa and armchairs, television, dvd, a selection of dvd's and games available. Central heating throughout.

COOKING & DINING: A shaker style kitchen, complete with Denby china, modern electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge. Farmhouse dining table seating four comfortably.

KEEPING CLEAN: An upstairs bathroom with bath, over bath shower, basin and loo. Towels included. A downstairs cloakroom with basin and loo. A self contained utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, drying racks and ample storage for muddy boots! There is in addition a lockable storage area for bikes.

PETS: Up to two well behaved and house trained pets are welcome at Jack's Barn.

STAYING CONNECTED: There is mobile signal on most networks at the Barn, wi-fi is available and there is also free wi-fi at the local pub within walking distance at the top of the lane.

An absolute gem of a place!!! The attention to detail - beautifully presented and lovely welcome treat! As a family we thoroughly enjoyed - including our dog!!! We felt totally relaxed - a beautiful cottage - we will definitely be returning.

Great break for us and our 2 Labradors. If youre a dog owner and want to relax with them then the security of the grounds, the privacy, the character of the Barn and the hot tub relaxation are for you. Well be returning soon.

Cant fault the location its beautiful, a well presented cosy cottage, but there should be more little touches we werent left with much basics. Its rather pricey for just 2 nights as your paying the 3 night premium - but we had a lovely honeymoon thank you

Jack's cottage is a small idyllic cottage, perfect for romantic getaways or a small family. The grounds are extensive - perfect for letting furry family members run around. We made great use of the hot tub during the day and for stargazing a night. The location is great for walks in the hills and nearby canal, as well as for eating out at Hardwick Read moreand Walnut Tree Inn. Our host, Kath was very helpful whilst respecting our privacy. Jacks barn is wonderful. This was our second visit and we enjoyed it just as much as our first time. Great for exploring Brecon Beacons and then relaxing in the welcoming hot tub. Love being in the middle of nowhere with short walk to dog friendly excellent Horseshoe Pub. Will be back

Absolutely Amazing location, completely cut off from the outside world, the buildings and gardens are immaculate and so well thought out. The Barn is very private indeed and peacefully situated. Having a warm welcoming pub within walking distance is an excellent positive. The Barn is well appointed with furniture and appliances but as its dog friendly the soft furnishings needed another sweep with the hoover (wont bother you if you have dogs anyway). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay anRead mored would recommend it but the experience could go up to the next level via a small number of very cheap improvements to give it a personal touch. Hide

Beautiful & quiet location. The grounds really were completely enclosed so we were able to allow our dogs outside without worrying. Jacks Barn is the perfect getaway. We stayed with our 5 and 7 year olds but it would also be ideal for couples. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished and super cosy when the log burner is lit. Its grounds are lovely. We all enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub with just the sheep for company. Beautiful property in stunning grounds with quality fixtures and fittings. Well fenced and completey secure for our 2 dogs to run around in. Hot tub was lovely after long walks. Couldn't fault it and will definitely be back.

I dont think you could really ask for more in a holiday cottage. It was homely, comfortable, well equipped and very welcoming. The hot tub was amazing made even better by the privacy of the location! A beautiful and relaxing place to stay!

This is our second visit to Jacks Barn which is a bra cottage kitted out in Laura Ashley fixtures and fittings- simply stunning! And Impeccably clean. Flowers and welsh cakes on arrival. The grounds are breathtaking (especially whilst sat in the hot tub)!! Our pug dogs love the barn and roaming the grounds. We were lucky enough to come the week of Read morethe snow which made Jacks Barn even more beautiful. The owner is always at the end of the phone and very very helpful. Cant recommended enough! Hide

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. We had a very relaxing holiday; sitting by the fire, star gazing in the hot tub and visiting the local pub (great food and super friendly). We even has snow! We will be back!
