Set in an acre of private land. The barn which is named after the lovely farmer who lived and worked the surrounding land, has been transformed from a once modest shepherd’s cottage. Retaining all the charm and features of an old property, warming oak beams, dry stone walls.

The Brecon and Monmouth Canal is very close at hand, with Goytre Whalf making a great morning stroll. Well located to explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in one direction and the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons in the other. Located just 20 minutes from the Severn Bridge, with easy access to Cardiff, Monmouth, Usk and Abergavenny, perfect for the country shows and food festivals throughout the year. In the Welsh borderlands you will find Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle, The Roman Fortress in Caerleon are all within easy reach The Big Pit is also well worth a trip with children, (free of charge), a chance to head underground in a real mine. This open-plan accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: 1 king-size with views and 1 twin. Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC. Separate WC on the ground floor. Lounge area: with woodburner (first basket of logs included), TV and DVD. Kitchen/diner: with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. Utility room: with washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside: enclosed garden with duck pond (safely fenced) and a pretty terrace set within the ruins of the old barn with table and chairs and a hot tub. Amenities: ample parking. Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

SLEEPS 2 - 4: A king-size bedroom with crisp bedlinen, squishy duvet, lovely eiderdown and gorgeous views over the countryside. Plus, a twin bedroom with cosy woolly Bronte throws and cushions, alongside crisp bedlinen and duvets.

RELAXING: Stylish open plan living room with cream wood burning stove, a generous basket of logs, plus firelighters and kindling to get it going. Linen sofa and armchairs, television, dvd, a selection of dvd's and games available. Central heating throughout.

COOKING & DINING: A shaker style kitchen, complete with Denby china, modern electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge. Farmhouse dining table seating four comfortably.

KEEPING CLEAN: An upstairs bathroom with bath, over bath shower, basin and loo. Towels included. A downstairs cloakroom with basin and loo. A self contained utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, drying racks and ample storage for muddy boots! There is in addition a lockable storage area for bikes.

PETS: Up to two well behaved and house trained pets are welcome at Jack's Barn.

STAYING CONNECTED: There is mobile signal on most networks at the Barn, wi-fi is available and there is also free wi-fi at the local pub within walking distance at the top of the lane.

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. We had a very relaxing holiday; sitting by the fire, star gazing in the hot tub and visiting the local pub (great food and super friendly). We even has snow! We will be back!

This is a really lovely cottage. It is a great location to get away from the fast pace of life but close to a couple of towns if you want a wonder or to sit in a tea shop. Amazing comfy and beautiful cottage. Great base for walking, we sadly couldn't walk from the barn as our dogs couldn't negotiate the stiles and there were no gates, however lovely walk along the canal and not far from many beautiful walks in the area. Jacks Barn and it's location is breath taking. A perfect place to relax and unwind. Lots of scenic walks and friendly pub 5 minutes walk away. We plan to return soon.

A cozy cottage in a beautiful setting. The owner is friendly and very helpful. Lots of places to explore on foot and by car. It feels more remote than it actually is. The adults, the kids and the dog all loved it.

The cottage was in the perfect location for us .no neighbours and lovely scenery all around.we were so relaxed in the evening with a log burner going and the hot tub was fantastic.lovely to wake up in the mornings with cows and sheep outside instead of people and cars and great to have a bench next to the duck pond.had a lovely stay.

This is a magical place. The land and the cottage are heavenly. We enjoyed the hot tub day and night and just relaxing and unwinding from fast city life. We cooked and we slept in peace and quiet and spent time looking at sheep sleeping and cows munching. Pure relaxation surrounded by breathtaking scenery in a cosy, well equipped, beautiful barn. Jacks Barn is in a perfect location. A great place for some time out and relaxation and with access to walks straight from the door. The barn has been beautifully converted and with the hot tub, which we used every evening on our return from exploring, a lovely place for a holiday. Our 2nd visit and we will definitely return.

Just back from a brilliant week at Jack's Barn - absolutely beautiful little cottage in a gorgeous setting. Massive garden for our 2 energetic dogs to run around in and completely secure so we didn't need to worry about them. Cottage itself is small but perfectly-formed and ideal for the 4 of us for the week. 7-minute walk to the Horseshoe Inn - a Read morelovely little pub with friendly staff and top notch pub food. This was our second stay in Jacks Barn.The cottage is spotless, the beds are extremely comfy & the Barn itself and the surrounding grounds are absolutely spectacular. The owner sent us a lovely welcoming text as we arrived and had left some eggs and welsh cakes for us, which was a lovely touch . Fantastic barn surrounded by lovely countryside. Easy distance to some brilliant walks and hot tub perfect way to unwind. Loved the space outdoors for our dog and nearby horseshoe pub was dog friendly and served lovely and good value meals. Will be back- Keri, rob, jess, liv and ozzy

We had a 4 day break to this wonderful cottage, taking our two dogs for their own little holiday. We all had an amazing time. Knowing that the dogs are safe to roam around we relaxed in the hot tub without worrying. Watching the sunset from the hottubes is a definite must do.
