Harrogate is an attractive spa-town close with some excellent historic visitor attractions including the Royal Pump House Museum, the Turkish Baths, town parks like the Valley Gardens and The Stray with its own pine woodlands. Be sure to track down Bettys Café for afternoon tea: its a local treasure. A few miles out of town you can visit Knaresborough Castle and take a walk along the River Nidd; check out the striking ruins at Fountains Abbey and Studley Garden - the areas most popular visitor attractions. If you fancy a walk on the moors and dales, Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Dales National Park offer some brilliant beauty spots to head out to. Time your trip for May to see the Tour de Yorkshire if long distance cycling is your thing.
