The Castle was previously home of Henry VIII's sixth wife Catherine Parr. Being located underneath the chapel, this escape provides an unusual home away from home. With copious amounts of exposed stone throughout, the character oozes out from every angle.

Located in the picturesque countryside village of Snape just two miles west of the popular town of Bedale. The location provides the ideal gateway to both the outstanding Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. There is an abundance of country houses to explore within a short drive. National Trust locations such as Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, and Brimham House are popular stops. The close by historic spa town of Harrogate provides a fantastic day out with abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants, whilst the market towns of Richmond, Leyburn and Hawes and the historic city of York are within driving distance.

The accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: 1 twin. On the ground floor, 1 king-size with en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Shower room: with shower and WC, on the ground floor. Lounge/kitchen/diner: with TV/DVD. Kitchen area, with electric range oven and hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Outside: front gardens with seating, grass area, BBQ and rear courtyard space with seating. Amenities: off-road parking. Bed linen, towels, electric, under floor heating and Wi-Fi included. Regret no smoking. 1 vaccinated dog by arrangement, please note that dogs are not permitted in any of the bedrooms. Additional info: regret no children under 10. Due to location and structure of Castle that the Wi-Fi at times can be limited. There are other internet resources nearby in Bedale.Location: shop and pub within walking distance. Arrival: 4pm.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

That is an amazing place to stay and you will receive no warmer welcome than the one we received from the owner, Sharon. A beautiful home, equipped with every you could possibly need, set in a great location. We shall return in the summer.

The Undercroft at Snape was just a perfect home from home. Anyone looking for peace and quiet need look no further. We were very impressed with the layout of the property and the cleanliness and it is central for lots of sightseeing. I would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit this area of Yorkshire. The Undercroft is an amazing place to stay and has a fascinating history. It is cosy,comfortable,quirky and very well equipped.The owner, Sharon is lovely and very welcoming. The location is beautiful and the village is really pretty with very friendly residents. The local pub is a must at least once for a meal and is also dog friendly. There is loads to do in the surrounding area. The owner is lovely.

The cottage was full of character and charm. It had been equipped to a high standard with practical and elegant furnishings. Because of its position underneath a chapel it was a little dark during the day, but there was a lovely garden for guests' use. The wifi was very uncertain and depended upon the whims of a router situated in the bedroom. The Read morearea is beautiful and the locals friendly. A beautiful, opulent apartment which, at the same time, is very homely and comfortable. Snape village is lovely with a very good pub serving excellent food and is in a brilliant location for exploring the Yorkshire Moors and the coastline to the East and the Dales to the West, and York, Ripon and Harrogate to the South. We will be back!

We have been to the Castle Undercroft 3 times now, every time has been fantastic, the cottage is truly a home from home experience, cosy, warm, beautiful decor and beautiful surroundings, we actually call it our second home! Sharon the owner is a lovely Lady who makes you feel most welcome and nothing is to much trouble for her. We just love it.
