Enjoy a unique escape and sit in the lap of luxury with your loved ones in this dreamy coastal haven backed by the North York Moors.

Set in the delightful village of Sandsend, this fantastic property is less than 200 yards from the beach. Head a hundred yards or so to Wits End Cafe, pick up a tea-to-go and head off along the sandy beach to fill your lungs with fresh, salty air. Stretching all the way to Whitby, you can walk the whole length of the beach (a good 2.5 miles) if you would like to. With numerous cafes, restaurants, shops and activities available in both Sandsend and Whibty, the cottage is well served by conveniences and amenities. For inland walks, head 11 miles away to the North Yorkshire Moors tallest waterfall, Mallyan Spout, completing the 3-mile round-trip from Goathland village.

A truly inspiring space, this property will be a hard one to leave. Immediately impressive with its traditional facade it is both attractive and inviting, infusing loft-style chic with beach chalet vibes. Heading inside, the first place to see is the beautiful open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with its double height ceiling and New England-style panelled walls. Cleverly re-purposing unusual objects and combining them with luxurious furnishings and pretty details, the space's crisp tones and interior design are a total dream. For quieter days, the lounge enjoys plush sofas, a wood burner and a TV with SKY and DVD player, perfect for relaxation. Venture into the kitchen area where a lovely surprise awaits: a welcome hamper full of goodies. If you fancy yourself as a cook, the kitchen will not disappoint. With plenty of worktop space to work your magic, there is also a double oven and hob, large fridge for storing the essentials (food and fizz), a double sink and plenty of equipment. After a day's sightseeing, you will certainly look forward to a good night's sleep. Home to three bedrooms, each member of your party has somewhere to snuggle up at the end of the day. The first two bedrooms are on the ground floor: one with a king-size bed and another with two singles. In addition to the bedrooms, there is also a family bathroom on the ground floor, including a bath with shower overhead and heated towel rail. Upstairs you will come to the final bedroom. Set in the eaves, the upper floor has a slanting roof, as well as deep steps leading to both a separate lounge area and an en-suite bathroom. The bedroom itself has a double bed and the en-suite comes complete with its own bath, perfect for soaking your muscles at the end of the day.

Outside a large lawn is the perfect place for the kids and dogs to let off steam whilst the grown-ups make use of the outside seating.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £250 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

A lovely family house in a wonderful location for the perfect beach and forest holiday. We find it is great for mum and dad with 2 children and a baby downstairs and grannie upstairs.

Fabulous weekend, great property & location. Very friendly owner who was at hand for anything required. Our only concern was that the beds were a little uncomfortable.

Fab place to stay really enjoyed it, make sure you try the food from next door, we even had it delivered to the cottage! Yum. Cottage as everything you need but could do with one more comfy chair in the room for when there are 6 of you!

The best self catering rental we have stayed in. The location is outstanding with total peace and quiet, easy walk to the clean, long, long sandy beach that stretches to Whitby. Our host was available if we needed anything but respected our privacy that was most refreshing. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated. The accommodation is spotleRead moressly clean and fresh smelling (unlike a cottage we rented earlier in July that smelt of dogs), it is bright and airy with secluded spots to sit back and relax on the wicker garden sets and enjoy the sun. The sofas are really comfy and clean and the bed linen was of high quality. As we like to cook on holiday some newer non-stick pans would have been appreciated but overall the kitchen is well stocked with equipment and has a large fridge freezer and great cooker. The downstairs bathroom was fantastic with a good shower and large bath. We highly recommended this accommodation for a holiday. This will be our 'go to' UK rental. Hide

On arrival the outside of the cottage was completely overgrown and dirty, garden furniture covered in bird poo and bbq completely unusable. Inside the floor is absolutely filthy and ripped in parts. I appreciate this cottage is dog friendly but do not expect to be covered in other peoples dog hairs, the cottage was not cleaned thoroughly, dishwasheRead morer was still full of pots and pans ect and had to wash utensils before use as they was all dirty.Beds like rock, need replacing. Only plus was that the bedding and towels were clean. The owner was no where to be seen throughout our entire stay, the fridge was faulty and I left her numerous voicemails and she never even bothered to ring us back. The cottage is in a lovely location but we would never return. Hide

Sandsend is a great location and cottage ideally placed for both beach and woodland walks. Would happily returnCottage internally was good and well furnished but outside was a great disappointment and in need of TLC. First impression was poor.

Beautiful house in a stunning location. Such a shame the courtyard is so neglected, overgrown with weeds and dirty broken decking. Still enjoyed our 2nd stay at the School House though. I'm sure we will return...

Me,my husband and Pilot our spaniel had a fabulous stay at this lovely house. We were met by the owner Caroline who showed us around. The house is very spacious and well equipped . It had everything we needed for our weeks stay.. it is well furnished and comfortable with great views and visits from the resident pheasants. It's a stones throw from tRead morehe beach and there are great walks to enjoy. We had a meal in the Woodlands hotel next door which was excellent. The photographs and description of this holiday let do it justice and are a true representation of the house. We loved our stay. It was restorative and comfortable and we felt at home as soon as we walked in. We started our holiday right from the 'get go' and were ad to leave. 5* from us. Hide

Set in a beautiful valley a short stroll from the beach, very peaceful. The house could be amazing however in need of a much needed make over in parts of the house. Disappointed that it wasn't very clean in parts no a great amount of detail spent on this. The welcome basket is a great touch. Can recommend the Sandside cafe by the beach for breakfasRead moret. My dig loved the beach nearby. Overall first time to whitby it a a beautiful area. Hide
