This cottage is located within short distance of Holmfirth. It is a world away from the big towns. Situated on a private estate, it's an immaculate holiday home that’s just perfect for a family getaway and a great location from which to explore the Peak District region.

Located on the edge of the Peak District, on a 26 acre estate in the grounds of a former 500 year old hotel, this is the ideal holiday home for those looking to explore and appreciate this truly awe inspiring area. A great base for those who love the outdoors with many treks and trails in the area. A wealth of National Trust properties are easily reached including Nostell Priory and Parkland, Hardcastle Crags, East Riddlesden Hall and Lyme Park to name but a few. The small town of Holmfirth is close by.

The property benefits from a tasteful, enclosed garden with BBQ and garden furniture, with guests invited to explore the rest of the grounds as they please. Sleeping 5, it's a nice fit for a growing family. The well-furnished living room is comfortable place for the family to relax at the end of an active day. There's also a great dining room set-up and fully-fitted kitchen fit for a top chef. The bedrooms afford nice views across the estate on the upper level - for convenience there is a family bathroom for use too with shower and bath.

There is ample off road parking and a local shop and pub are within a mile of the cottage.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

We stayed at Sir Richard's Cottage for and week. I would certainly recommend this cottage to everyone. There was a nice welcome basket containing bread, cereal, biscuits, tea, coffee, and milk. The garden outside was neat and well maintained and there was plenty of wood for the bbq. The views surrounding the cottage were lovely. I would definitely Read morego back again. Hide

First impressions good, clean, spacious and tidy, no smells and useful welcome pack a nice touch The critical bit: we couldnt connect to the wifi, staff got us onto next doors wifi, with a limited signal The king size bed is made up of two single beds and mattresses Cooker had a minor fault Cold basin tap in bathroom not working I couldnt connect tRead morehe supplied DVD player to the TV, (there was no scart socket on the TV) so bring your own AV phono leads and connect it if you intend using it. Fantastic cottage in a gorgeous grounds with loads of places to explore. Very spacious rooms. Big bathroom with separate toilet. Fully equipped kitchen with all utensils, crockery and glassware. Even an extra freezer and cleaning equipment under the stairs. Very warm and cosy yet spacious. Lovely cottage - much bigger on the inside than we expected - very large bedrooms. Kept the dogs confined to the kitchen/dining room area and there were very content there. The children loved being able to explore the grounds of the hall and climb trees, feed ducks etc. Had a lovely walk from the cottage to Wharncliffe crags so the children could eRead morenjoy a couple of hours scrambling/climbing the rocks - one of their favourite activities of the holiday.
